{making memories}

This year, instead of exchanging gifts {that would very likely eventually be purged;},
Angela & I decided to have a craft/play day for the kids with yummy, healthy
foods like donuts and coffee cake, Christmas cokes and some coffee with our cream.

Perfectly healthy.

And, as funny as it was that the kids were much more interested in playing
than completely our fun, well-thought out projects.....memories were definitely
made.  It was much better than any gift exchange.  Here are a few pictures
of our memory making day.  The only negative was when it ended!

We will definitely be making this a tradition!

 A PREASSEMBLED Gingerbread House!
That solves many issues of years past!
It is the first one ever that didn't collapse.

Maybe we should use one for the barn rebuild. ;)

And, this idea from pinterest as well.  I forgot to "turn" the picture.
And, it still needed a trunk.

Well, to be honest, still does.  Maybe I'll paint that
before I display it next year.

But, I love looking at their little hand prints.
Well, on anything but the windows.

And, really that makes me swoon too!

Anyone want to join us??

{THE Chicken Mansion}

This would be Angela's Coop.  Noah snapped it on his iPod so I could share.

Here she is in all of her glory!!

My chicks will be living in a shack, just sayin'. :)

{modeling}

My birthday present from Angela.  She MADE it!  I am very impressed.  The picture does not do it justice.  But, super-cute knitted scarf and the gigantic flower {which I love} pinned to it.  But, i was wearing it wrong I think?  And, poor Noah, I had to grab him for the picture.  Couldn't do it alone.    Love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks Ang!  Now, if I could just find your present???

{not today}

bridal fest: check

loaded the car: check

snow flurries: check

then something happened?? everything started changing very rapidly. we were told by mr. yoder to get home, no stops, it was "bad out there". hmmm....not where we were at that moment.

flurries. when we realized we were getting in a bit of trouble, she laughed and said.."well, we don't have any snow stories {incidents} together." i quickly told her "i really don't want to write it today". It could wait.

well, we abided and drove straight home. or tried to, it got much worst fast. we met travis in GW and he took angela so I could get on my merrily, but, slow way home. and, an hour and a half later i arrived in my driveway {from fs}. she on the other hand, is still out there. two sections of 71 were closed.

update: she is home. 3 long hours after leaving convention center.

we have our story.

a 3 hour tour!

the end.

{road trip}

I'm ready! I've got my comfy shoes for the wedding. And, they are super-cute! So, now I am ready to go. ha! I really did get the shoes when Scott was at his MD appt this morning. ;)

It's pathetic! I am such a homebody! I am very much looking forward to spending this time with Angela. It's always good to get away and refresh. I think I've done it once since I had Evan. And, we will be working all day, long into the night on Saturday - but, we will still have fun!

Her hubby asked what big plans we had without kids........they included: jumping into our pj's, ordering room service, giving ourselves facials, and pedi's and above all.......sleeping! If I've said it once, I've said it a million times....it really doesn't take much!

I'm already missing my little family - but, they are traveling with me next weekend for a wedding in LR. But, hopefully I will come back fully refreshed and ready to play! And, I can never have too much time with her. Life just detours that way too much.

And, I am determined to have a ton of pictures of us! We realized the ENTIRE time we were on vacation last year........we did not get one single picture of us! Terrible really! But, we'll fix that! We may have blue goop on our faces and our hair in towels...but that will work. ;)

Be back soon!

{weirdness}

as strange as it is......i think that's probably what makes it so great. yesterday was the topper though.

angela and i have very, very similar taste. (except in food and it is as different as it could possibly get. a different story, for a different day. but, i continue to dispute the idea of fruit being mixed with "real food". yuck.)

you can walk into either of our homes and see several of the same things. our closets, ditto. sometimes, that happened while we were together shopping and we just both liked it that well - but, more often than not - it happened by chance. she called me recently and told me about a set of curtains she was looking at at pier one. i had just bought them the week before. that was out of about 30 different ones to chose from. and, that's nothing really. a couple of weeks ago, she brought me a "surprise"...a new apron! so, i went to my closet and pulled out the one i had got her. from the same store. of all the things in that store.......aprons. we just laugh. it happens over and over.

but, yesterday when she came over. she was wearing "my" new glasses, the ones i just picked out friday and have of course, not even received them yet. it was the very first time i had seen hers. we go to two different eye docs. neither of us had described them to the other. she had narrowed her selection down to 4 and ended up with those. i had a pile of about 20+ and narrowed mine down to those.

it's kind-of freaky. but, in a good way.

{mammograms and alzheimers}

today, i called ang; or attempted to as i was in a dead spot. by the time i remembered to call her again, i realized as i was dialing that i couldn't even remember why i was calling. oh, well, it was her. she would understand. and, today, one of us (will not disclose) had the first baseline mammogram; the other one is to be scheduled. i just can't figure out how we got from nap mats in Mrs. Yancey's kindergarten class to mammograms and alzheimers in such a short time. unbelievable.

{my head is still spinning}

i had one of those days yesterday. you can link up to my best friend's new blog PolkadotsandKisses as i can't bear to relive it again. let's just say it led to three trips to Fort Smith in a short span of time. leave it to me.

but, she also mentioned our "find for the day"....... remember this little guy i posted about last year... i got the picture from the internet...... does not do it justice

i had intended to order him long before now, but, he was one of the first things i ran into at holiday market. he is better than expected!!! the story is so sweet and what a fun family tradition. the abbreviated version is that he arrive to your house (thanksgiving night) you read the sweet little book to the family, name him and he will reside with your family throughout the day, he flies back to the northpole at night while the children are sleeping and reports the "good and bad" to santa. the fun thing is, he "lands" in a different spot every morning, so the children will have to get up and find him. they cannot touch him because if so....the his magic will be gone. just great great fun for the kids! and, i'm thinking mom and dad too! i'm so excited i can hardly stand it.

they are actually here locally at creative kitchen in fort smith. they are priced lower or as well as they are online, but, without shipping.
