savings added today: $60.50 and $17 of that was because i did a 5 second google search to see if the company offered any free shipping rebates as the website did not offer one. bingo! $17 off :)
counting my RR, I am up to $117 for the week.

{savings report for last week}
a total of $387 saved and as mentioned before - some of that did not even take into account sale prices. and, i'm sticking to my plan to deposit the savings.
this week should be much lower as i am stocked on the big things i was out of...but so far, i have saved $24.50 in coupon savings and on top of that earned $25 in RR. And, we are stocked on chips and sodas galore!

{quick post}
i'm on a roll. and, you guys are probably already very sick of this - sorry!
but, i went into wal-mart for THREE items on a list. i knew they had several toys on clearance and i had not ventured that direction over the past few weeks. with noah's bd weeks away, i thought i should at least just check it out. all of his bd gifts are now purchased, some of e's and various things for little bd parties we will attend throughout the year.
i saved $108!! for example, noah is finally getting the ripstick he has been begging for - it was originally $49 and i paid $25. i saved $15 on a portable karaoke machine, etc, etc, etc.
so, since monday, my savings this week...$373. AND, it was on items i would have purchased regardless. and, in truthfulness - the savings are actually quite a bit higher i am sure because now instead of running into a store just prior {or enroute to} all of the bd parties we will attend throughout the year - i can just go to my closet! so, what i save in time, the extra things i always seem to pick up while i am running in for that one item, etc....

{addendum to include correction}
I got curious and pulled out old receipts - I actually saved a minimum of $112 today at Sam's. I think the key is to purchase only those things that do not have a very good track record related to coupons or sales.
So, the edited deposit will be $165.
Given, we now have enough groceries for weeks. And, I know I am in the middle of a pantry challenge - but, Noah was COMPLETELY out of lunch and snack foods and beverages. Sadly, that contributed to a big chuck of my Sam's expenditures. But, again, if I had gone in without my list and looked at all of the "goodies" I would have totally blown my savings.
added: one more note, for full disclosure....I spent a total of $162 out of pocket for a TON of things today. Many of which will last for months and into summer. I was out of alot. So, now that our staples are pretty much refilled - I can really sit back and hopefully start stockpiling again.

ok, i've jumped back on the band wagon. at least by my toes. my stock pile is dwindling rather quickly at this point.
today, for about 20 minutes online - and very quick in and out shopping trips i saved...
$10.50 at Sam's straight off at the check-out with that new program (name??) i know, i know - sam's is a bit controversial - but, i swear that we save a ton by buying certain staples as long as i do not buy things that are not on my list. that's the difficult part. and, they have a new program of preferred savings...for example on a 36 roll (that equates to 72 rolls) of charmin after an instant $5 off at the check-out, i paid $12+. I had three items that netted the $10.50. At WM, I checked and a 12 roll of the exact same type (that equates to 24 rolls) was $12+. So, I think that was a pretty decent savings. $24 to be exact, just on the single item. ;)
$31.52 at Wal-Greens + 4.25 in RR for the next trip
$7 at Wal-mart
So, a little over $50 for 20 minutes online and Wal-greens was the only trip that was not on the agenda today - I would have been at Sam's and WM regardless. And, Noah and I were literally in and out of WG's in about 10 minutes. So, not bad for 30minutes. And, with a quick guesstimation, I would think I saved at least another $75 in the bulk savings from Sam's. And, it was on all items I would have bought anyway that typically does not catch big sales....downy, charmin, oatmeal, caprisuns, bacon, etc....
I've decided I am going to put the savings in a separate savings account deemed for summer vacation. $125 to be deposited tomorrow. ;)
I will never be as good as Erin....but, every little bit helps! Will keep you posted!

{pantry challenge}
sweet tonia's post got me to thinking. and, in some form or fashion i tend to do this with each new year. obviously, i should do it much more often than that!
but...saving, saving, saving....
ironically, i saw the new book featured on ABC this morning about saving big - not in depriving ourselves of the lattes, etc...but, the big savings related to our housing, vehicles, GROCERIES, etc. i am still feeling terrible today, but, in my haze i did hear her mention the pantry challenge - i've often started it, but never carried it though.
now to the confessional. h1n1? anyone who knows me...knows i spent weeks stockpiling for that. maybe, just MAYBE...i went a little overboard. but, keep in mind - my family tends to do things in extremes when it comes to illnesses - and we got pretty close with noah. ugh!
but, i am attacking my in-home grocery store. i'll keep you posted.
and, because i am not feeling too good - i did phone scott to pick up a necessity while he was out at the md today to avoid me just "running" in to WM tomorrow. that gets me everytime!
and, i hope to get back to erin's habits.....especially for the toiletry items. i am still using my stockpile from 2-3 years ago! it was amazing when i did it! but, erin is the QUEEN. btw, i think you need a blog just for us......your followers. ha! like you don't have your hands filled with a sweet bundle!
but, i'm on the bandwagon with you girls, although my start may be a little slow. but, am anxious to see the results.
and, i'll post any tidbits i run across on here as well. always fun!
ps....tonia on the sams thing.....i've had an MI (myocardial infarction, aka heart attack) at the check-out stand too....however, there are a few items i always get there that save me ALOT of $$$ and i compute what those will cost and only carry that amount of cash in with me. if i do run across a SUPER deal - then i have to walk back out to my car.....which to be honest, usually doesn't happen! :) some items that are staples for us there.....the precooked bacon, large cans of green beans, tomato sauce, bread, lettuce and the hb for scott's meatballs.
but...saving, saving, saving....
